I believe OP to be acceptable to an extent, in a sense that, if you are downloading things for your own personal use then it stops more loss of income for the creator, however if I were to download a movie and then send it off to 5 other people, then it can potentially cause a big impact to someone's life, that is when I think it should be controlled.

I joined this site for a few bucks a month, where I can get any free music and movies for free. I think its $5 a month.

I feel wrong doing it, and I know this not supporting the bands and stuff, I don't do it that much.

    IMO it's bad.

e; Lot's of people torrent FL Studio on here so no lying.

If you want to pay 5 bucks a month and be legitimate use a service like mog.com. Bands still get screwed, but at least they get a small cut.

Please don't glorify torrenting. Its something that many do, but not somthing to be proud of.

  6. I do download the odd movie or song every so often, but I don't really support piracy. I do understand why it's bad, but I am prepared to take the risk because I want enjoyment to be free, and in any case, the movie people have already got their pay from cinemas and DVDs. I do hire DVDs every so often and I watch movies on free-to-air TV all the time. I also buy a lot of songs on CDs despite me having the ability to download songs easily, but yeah. I don't support piracy and I definitely don't recommend it, but I personally use it for some unholy reason.

I'll flat out come on here: I haven't paid for any of my music or most my apps on my phone or all my software on my computer. I know it's wrong and hurting the artists/developers, but it's just so convenient for me and I feel like it's so simple, why pay money for it. I know I probably will get lots of hate for it, but I love pirating. I understand the bad effects it may have, and I'm in no way the kind of person to go into a store and steal something, but it's like... just there. And sometimes spending $400 on a computer program is just crazily not worth it for me.

I dont give a damn if you do it / like doing it. don't show off that you do it. its not something to be proud of. its on the same level as jacking off to internet porn. alot of people do it, but they dont show it off.

Calm down there Goose, I understand your frustration, especially since you know how much time and effort it takes to make programs, but saying "it's bad don't do it" will not change there mind. Best thing to do is try to explain why they shouldn't. That it can take a ton of time to make these programs and or music, and for a developer, so see your hard work just taken for free, it sucks. I agree the johnny and trex coming off as if they are proud of pirating.

It is a bid deal. and if the programs not worth the $400 or Xamount that it would coast to buy it, then you shouldn't be using it. As I said, the only reason I pirate stuff is if I don't have the money and plan to buy it once I do. I don't just say that either, I actually do it. I own most of my music. and I've gone back and bought a fair amount of the software that I have. Pirating shouldn't just be a quick "I might as well cause it won't coast me anyway" decision.

Lets think about it like dinning and dashing. You go to a restaurant, you order your food. Now, you have a choice, you could just ditch the place and get a "free" meal, or, after you enjoyed the restaurants products, you pay the bill. Sure you're out some cash, but now everyone who helped make that can get the money they deserve. Most of you(or even all of you) agree that dinning and dashing is wrong. Pirating is like that, you get product before you actually pay for it, granted it can last you the rest of your life rather then a hour or so, but you should pay for it at some point before you 'leave'.
Maybe this'll change the way some of you think about it.

I don't think there's a problem with downloading music from a free mp3 thing. What's the difference from going to youtube and watching the music video over and over from your phone? Nothing. You're still listening to the same thing, and it was freely given to you from youtube by the people who made it.

I can see how going somewhere to download a movie is bad though, because you don't usually find whole movies on public and legal places.

anyway i find it ironic that people are confessing to their evil doings on the internet where anyone can see it

Well, for me, I have no ties between real life and this online account nor any accounts on this PC. my name and location has never been entered into this PC / my accounts. I am frequently using different wifi sources (schools/coffee shops/friends houses) so you can only point to the area/city I live in. I'm sure if you wanted to someone could find me, but it's not as simple as most.
