So, I've noticed a lot of drawings were taken from references, and here's a quick tut on how to make it easier.

    Paint.NET:
    1. Find the pic you want to reference, and bring it into PDN. I'll use this:

    2.Go to Adjustments>Brightness and Contrast:

    3. Bump the Contrast all the way up. play with the brightness to get the desired amount of black and such:

    Aaaand done! Etch away!:

TIP: if you have Windows 7, use the snap feature to easily go back and look at your ref. just drag the etch window to the right side of the screen until a box comes up and let go. do the same for the Ref image window onto the right side:

    GIMP:
    1. Find the pic you want to reference, and bring it into GIMP. I'll use this:

    2. Go to Color>Desaturate and click ok

    3. Go to color> Brightness and contrast:

PS: (Please excuse me if PS is different, I am using PS elements.) (also sorry, UpURS was down while I was doing this so no pics just yet)
    1. Find the pic you want to reference, and bring it into PS. I'll use this:

    2. Go to enhance>convert to black and white, and click OK.

    3. Go to enhance>Adjust lighting>Brightness and contrast

    4. Bump Contrast all the way up.

    5. Repeat 4 until it is completely black and white, no greys.

Helpful, but I think these kinds of things ruin the game, I like it when people make art without references, which is what I strive to do.

Yeah, this is kind of why I hesitated to post this for awhile. I knew people would say something like that, and I agree. But I decided to post it anyway.

    EDIT: added GIMP

Pretty cool, man. I want to use this but, I think that it is sort of a cheat to see exactly how to shade it when It'd be better to learn on your own. It's still neat though ;)

Its not cheating. Not at all. Cheating would be tracing it.

Wuuut... Cornelius why must you bump things... I made this post 2 years ago, and the fact that you have to ask if it works with Free Rider is ridiculous considering practically none of the steps are actually done within a game...
