    Free Rider 2 Music Video
    CONTEST

    Overview:
It seems like we need some more commotion around here, so here's an interesting contest EVERYONE should get involved in! You must pick a song (should be available to listen via YouTube; preferably a VEVO channel) and create a FR2 track that matches up with the song when you play it! Awesome, right? If you have any questions, just leave them below!

    Requirements:
    1. Follow all of Trackmill's rules. No exceptions.
    2. Entered track CANNOT be old and/or stolen! You must create a new track for this contest.
    3. Keep the swearing to a minimum. Yes, I realize a lot of songs have swear words in them, but try to pick a PG-13 or lower song, please. Remember: This is a kid-friendly site!
    4. The song HAS to be able to be viewed on YouTube. This way anyone can click and listen without worry of having to pay for the song. With this in mind, try to pick a song posted to an official VEVO channel to support the artist, but it is just strongly recommended, not required.
    5. The track has to last for at least half of the chosen song. It's alright if you can't do the whole song, but you must do a track for half of one.

    Judging:
1 pt - Track plays for at least half of the chosen song
4 pts - Track lines up well with chosen song
    4 pts - Creativity
1 pt - Chosen song contains less than 5 swear words (swear words defined as George Carlin's 7 words you can't say on TV)

    Prizes:
1st Place - Two 10/10 (each!) on 5 tracks of your choice + possible signature award (made by yours truly) + I will see what I can do about getting you special notoriety from the forum staff
2nd Place - 10/10 on 3 tracks of your choice + possible signature 2nd place award
3rd Place - 10/10 on 1 track of your choice

    Contestants:

If your name is in bold, that means that I have received your entry (FR2 track & music link on YouTube).
Please note that there is no maximum cap on contestants.

If you have any other questions, please post here. The due date to post your track is by 11:59 PM (EST) on Saturday, May 30th. If you would like to let me know you are entering earlier (which I would prefer you did), you can post here on this thread saying you are interested. If you need more time by May 30th, I may grant an extension. Let's re-start Trackmill! ...Again! :D

    FAQ:
[SPOIL]Q: Does the track have to be an auto (automatic track)?
A: No, it does not. It can be any kind of track you want.

Q: Does the track have to be the exact length of the song?
A: No. You can choose to end the track anywhere you like, but keep in mind that you would want the track to sync up with the music.

Q: Am I supposed to make the track, screen-capture playing the track with the music behind it, and post that to YouTube?
A: No. For this contest, all you need to do is make a FR2 track that syncs up with a song of your choice. Once you've done that, post 2 links to this thread: 1) The FR2 track and 2) A link to the song you used on YouTube. The idea is for people to be able to start the music and the FR2 track at the same time so that while you listen to the music while playing, what happens on FR2 syncs up with the music.

Q: Do I have to name the track the same thing as the song?
No. You can name your track whatever you want.

Q: It won't be easy to start both the song and the track simultaneously. How am I supposed to do that?
A: Here's a tip. Open the song in a new tab and select a time after the song begins playing (2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc.). Make the track line up starting from there. Then, when posting your track, give instructions (in the track, comments, forums, etc.) to those playing the track to open the song in a different window and start playing the track when the song hits that time marker you've chosen. If this tip / explanation helps or doesn't help, please let me know.

Q: Is there a time limit for the track?
A: Nope. You can make your track as long as you want to as long of a song as you want.

Q: What if for some reason my track de-syncs (gets separated) from the music?
A: That's difficult to avoid. If you are going for an automatic track, I would highly recommend saving your code as often as possible as saving it resets the track to play like it would when you publish it. For those who are unaware, FR2 tracks can sometimes play different once you save the code. Saving often and fixing any problems that arise is the best way to deal with this problem. As for regular tracks, it's all down to the person playing. If people complain, then they're not playing the track right.

Q: Does the amount of detail I put into my track count for anything?
A: Absolutely. You will get less points in CREATIVITY for less detail, but a ton of detail does not ensure a perfect score.

Q: Can I have profane / vulgar references in my track?
A: I would hope this pertains to vulgarity in the song. First of all, I will tell you to read through the forum rules. You must follow ALL OF THEM. This means no porn, no sexual content, no swearing, etc. I would severely limit how much profanity you put into your tracks. If I see anything that violates any of Trackmill's rules, I will contact a staff member about it immediately. I am not responsible for anything you put into your own works.[/SPOIL]

does the track necessarily have to be an auto so that the exact length of the song it lasts for can be measured or could it be a regular track?

It does not have to be an auto. It can be any kind of track you want.
As for the second part of your question, the exact length does not matter. You can choose to end it wherever you want to.

    EDIT:
From now on, any question asked here regarding the contest will be placed in the FAQ section of the first post for convenience.

okay i'm definitely in but i'm sort of confused. are we supposed to record the track and put it with the song and post it on youtube or what?

148bsaa LIFE: That Awkward Moment Mechanic

No. You are supposed to find the song you want to use on YouTube, make a FR2 track that syncs up with the music when you start both at relatively the same time, and then post 2 links on this thread: 1) The FR2 track and 2) A link to the song you used on YouTube. Please let me know if you have any other questions. You're in!

another question: should i name the track the name of the song or does it matter? also, it's kinda hard to start them both at the same time so... idk how you're gonna do that

You can name the track whatever you want to name it. And as for it being hard to start both at the same time... you're right. This will not be an easy contest, but it isn't an impossible task. I'll give you a tip: You don't have to have them start at exactly the same time. You just have to account for the difference in time. For example, say you start the song "The Eye of the Tiger" 2 seconds before you begin playing the track. Since this is how you want the track to be played with the song anyway, just make the track line up with everything you hear after the 2 second mark. Does that make sense?

i dont think you understood the question, so sorry if it wasn't clear. i was meaning should it be an auto so that what is heard at a specific time of the song might match up with the design of the track at the time?

some questions that could be useful in the FAQ
-Is there a certain time limit for my track/auto? (song could be really short or long so this one would be useful)
-What if my track isn't played right and it gets off?
    -Does detail matter?
    -Do profane references matter, too?

I might come up with some more later

Yep. That's the whole challenge, actually. The hard part is getting what is happening on the FR2 track to match up with the song.

All will be addressed in the first post.
